Two-Sentence Horror Stories Written by Fictional Characters

Posted by Sarah Fox

On Halloween, we get excited for—what else?—all the horror stories. In order to save everyone time, we imagined two-sentence short stories written by our favorite fictional characters. But be warned, some of these are downright terrifying…for these characters' standards.

By Achilles from The Iliad

You die, and nobody remembers you. Your memory is forgotten.

By Wife of Bath from The Canterbury Tales

You have no money, so you decide to marry for money. There are plenty of men, but they have no money.

By Tom Jones from The History of Tom Jones, a Foundling

You are surrounded by beautiful women. None of them find you attractive.

By Emma from Emma

You have spent years setting up two of your friends. After two years of marriage, they get divorced.

By Scrooge from A Christmas Carol

After receiving visits from ghosts, you discover the error of your ways. Except it is too late to fix your life.

By Sherlock Holmes from A Study in Scarlet (and other works)

You have spent months trying to solve a mystery. The criminal escapes the country as soon as you have discovered his identity.

By Daisy from The Great Gatsby

You have found the world’s most beautiful shirts. Then you accidentally spill red wine on them.

By Sebastian Flyte from Brideshead Revisited

Someone steals your teddy bear. When you recover it, it is missing a button eye.

By Merry and Pippin from The Lord of the Rings

You find a barrel full of delicious food. Upon closer examination, you find all the food is spoiled.

By Hermione from the Harry Potter series

You study for an exam for months. As soon as you sit down to take the test, you forget EVERYTHING.
