Quirk Books – Publicity and Marketing Assistant


Summary: Are you a reader who is interested in beginning a publishing career? Are you interested in sharing awesome books and promoting talented authors through creative and impactful marketing and publicity campaigns?

If so, Quirk Books is seeking an organized and creative Publicity and Marketing Assistant. As a member of our Sales, Marketing, and Publicity group, this entry-level role reports to the Senior Publicity and Marketing Manager and supports senior team members with the execution of dynamic marketing and publicity campaigns that speak to Quirk’s list of unconventional, engaging, and purpose-driven books.

 

Publicity Responsibilities:

  • Work in conjunction with senior team members to execute publicity campaigns.
  • Work independently on publicity campaigns for paperback reprints and repackaged titles.
  • Write press releases and corresponding collateral.
  • Pitch and schedule author events and interviews, coordinate travel and hotel accommodations for touring authors, and create detailed tour schedules.
  • Clerical support, such as mailings, processing invoices, and tracking and logging publicity clips and marketing activities.
  • Research new media trends and contacts.
  • Update and maintain Quirk’s media lists.
  • Manage award submissions.

 

Marketing Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the development and execution of marketing campaigns for titles and the Quirk brand.
  • Alongside senior team members, oversee and expand Quirk’s influencer outreach (bloggers, #BookTok, podcasts, etc.).
  • Manage Quirk’s titles on NetGalley and Edelweiss, including handling new requests and notable reviews and uploading/archiving titles.
  • Support the team in planning, promoting, and executing trade and consumer events.
  • Support the Senior Vice President of Sales, Marketing, and Publicity with Quirk’s library-marketing efforts.
  • Coordinate the creation of marketing materials.
  • Contribute digital content ideas for Quirk Books’ website and social platforms, including the creation of content for the blog and TikTok scripts.
  • Assist the Digital Marketing Manager with the backend maintenance of QuirkBooks.com.
  • Oversee giveaway fulfillment and implementation.
  • Provide general administrative support by following up with media and vendors, mailing books and coordinating warehouse mailings, tracking press coverage, researching partnership contacts, etc.

  • Keeps up with current social trends, especially on TikTok and #BookTok.
  • Familiarity with Cision and WordPress is a plus.
