Top 10 Tuesday: 10 Inspiring Quotes for Book Lovers

Posted by Maria Vicente

In this week’s Top 10 Tuesday, hosted by Broke & the Bookish, we’re supposed to share inspiring quotations from books. Which I could do, but I’m not going to. Instead, I have ten inspiring books for book lovers because sometimes we need a little reading encouragement.

Do more of what makes you happy. This clearly means read more books.

Stop worrying about things you can’t control. Like whether your favorite character is going to make it through to the end of GRRM’s A Song of Ice and Fire.

If it doesn’t matter, get rid of it. Stop hoarding books you know you will never read again, especially if you didn’t like them. Pass it off to a friend (who may love it!) or donate it to someone who needs it.

Comparison is the thief of joy. No book will live up to your favorite book (until you find the one that takes its place). Start every book with fresh eyes and you’ll enjoy them even more.

Sometimes the wrong choices bring us to the right places. Do you ever wander into a new bookstore or library and end up in a completely random section? Maybe you should try out one of the books from those shelves.

A Sunday well spent brings a week of content. Take some time to do nothing but read. Turn off your phone, ignore everyone else in your house, and dedicate your attention to the story. (You can choose a different day than Sunday if you’d like to.)

Never stop learning. Read books that challenge you and force you to think of people and events in different ways.

Get some sleep. This is practical advice for any bookworm.

You can’t rush something you want to last forever. If you really love a book, try to read it slower rather than fly through the pages. What wouldn’t you give to read the Harry Potter series again for the first time?

Some day you will be old enough to start reading fairy tales again. That day is today.

Let us know which of these quotations will become your next reading mantra!
