Q&A with Jordan Ellis from Jordandené

Posted by Quirk Books Staff

Jordan Ellis is the incredible force behind Jordandené, which creates all sorts of geeky products—everything from tees and tanks to undies and bags. All products are homemade in Brooklyn. We're super excited to be featuring Jordan here on our blog.

And hey, we even teamed up with Jordandené for a Geekerella tee!

What inspired you to create Jordandené?

I created Jordandené because I wanted well-designed, high-quality, feminine and nerdy products, and at the time I couldn’t find many other businesses like that!

Is there a particular Jordandené product you can't live without?

I can’t live without our geeky tanks. They’re honestly what I wear 90% of the time!

If you could invite three fictional characters to dinner, who would they be?

I think I’d have to pick Tyrion Lannister, Princess Jasmine, and Neville Longbottom.

On your blog, you highlight super cool people, give geeky outfit inspo, and offer downloadable phone backgrounds with geeky quotes—just like the amazing ones featured on your tees and tanks. What's your favorite geeky quote and why does it speak to you?

I really like Hermione Granger’s quote: “I’m hoping to do some good in the world.” It speaks to me because the best path for your life might not be the path others expect from you. Make your own decisions and find a way to do some good in the world!

If you were to offer one piece of advice to Quirk's Geek E. Girls, what would it be?

If you can, get involved in a community of people who love and support each other. There are so many wonderful geeky groups in the world, and surrounding yourself with caring people to learn from and grow with can be the most valuable thing!
