Squad Goals seem to be taking over the Internet, thanks to Taylor Swift. While the world may aspire to be best friends with a model, our aspirations don’t run that tall. We turn to books for our squad goals; we just tend to prefer page-turners over paparazzi.
We know they are technically sisters, but since many girl squads love to label themselves as a sisterhood, it only seems appropriate that our first squad goal involves women who are actually biologically tied together. We would love to have grown up with the March sisters; it would be amazing to put on plays together or try to make household chores actually seem like a good time. Also, nobody seems to get upset if you date an ex. The only downside would be you would have to protect your manuscripts (you never know when Amy will get mad and decide to burn one) and your hair (you never know when Meg will try to curl your hair and accidentally burn it).
The Baby-Sitters Club
This group of friends is every aspiring entrepreneur’s dream. After reading this series, we realized that selling Girl Scout cookies was for chumps; the real money is in babysitting. Why turn over your earnings to an organization when you can just split the profits amongst yourselves? We definitely want to join the club, not just for the monetary gains, but also because it is a great way to make hanging out with your friends look good on college applications. Based on the more-than-two-hundred book series, we say friends who are entrepreneurs together stay together.
Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood
In a sea of girl squads that are under the age of thirty, it is refreshing to see one that has members that are seventy years old. Not only does it prove that squads can last for life, but it shows you the possibility of a whole lifetime of shenanigans (while keeping your royalty-inspired name into adulthood). Even better, you eventually reach an age where instead of creating trouble, you actually can stop it. The women prevent Vivi’s daughter from making a terrible life choice just by showing her a scrapbook of their memories (Some things are better than Instagram). This definitely makes them a longterm squad goal.
The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants
There must be something very magical indeed when you and all your childhood friends can fit into the same pair of pants (heck, it is a miracle if any pair of pants fits you perfectly). What is even more astonishing is that the pants are able to survive the postal system (especially when said pants travel to places like Greece). Most importantly, it would be amazing to be part of a group of friends who have known each other before birth (their mothers were part of the same pregnancy group). That's how you know you will be friends for life. To top it all off, you could be part of a group that breaks into a yoga studio to celebrate your friendship with a ritual and junk food. If that isn’t a squad goal, then we don’t know what is.
