What's the Quirk staff playing lately? We'll tell you! Luigi’s Mansion 3 came to Switch this past Halloween, and we're loving it. Our poor plumber friend must brave a haunted house yet again to save his hapless friends. (Who, really, should start spending a little less time near these ghost-filled mansions in the first place!) As usual, Luigi trusts players to guide him through puzzles and past ghosts (with the help of his trusty little vaccum cleaner!) on his way to help his friends. We feel for Luigi—he’s not the bravest of plumbers, even though he’ll do whatever it takes to save Mario and the gang. So we’re giving him a little reading list…or one to help him between now and the inevitable fourth installment in the Luigi’s Mansion series. We've got your back, Luigi!

Feel The Fear And Do It Anyway by Susan Jeffers

This classic self-help book would be the perfect place for Luigi to jump right in. He’s unlikely to get over all his fears right away (and being easily frightened is an endearing part of his personality), but Jeffers’ wise words about being able to embrace your life even when you are afraid would hit home. Feel The Fear And Do It Anyway, like the title suggests, isn’t about ignoring all those little internal voices that say life is scary—it’s about finding out how to do what you need to despite them.

The Field Guide To Stains by Melissa Wagner, Nancy Armstrong, and Virginia M. Friedman

Luigi wouldn’t get far without his trusty Poltergust 3000, the little red vacuum that he uses to suck up defeated ghosts in the series. And we’re guessing that even when he and his friends are between haunted house adventures, he’s probably pretty attached to it…so why not put it to good use and do some cleaning (of the non-haunted houses in his life). The Field Guide To Stains goes over every possible problematic mess (except maybe ectoplasm!), so with this in one hand and the Poltergust in the other, Luigi could put his vacuuming skills to use, keeping the Nintendo world spotless.

The Everything Ghost Hunting Book by Melissa Martin Ellis

For a little practical help when he’s actually in the Mansion, and if he doesn’t have the help of Professor Elvin Gadd at his side, Luigi could do much worse than grab a copy of The Everything Ghost Hunting Book. Written by a real-life ghost hunter, this goes through all the tricks of the ghost-hunting trade, latest equipment, and how to deal with any spooks that you might encounter. It’s a great read for anyone interested in real-life ghosts, and one that Luigi seriously needs to get hold of!

Last Call At The Nightshade Lounge by Paul Krueger

Sometimes, it’s just nice to know that you aren’t alone, and we know that Luigi would love this fantastic tale of a pretty average bartender who suddenly discovers a world populated by mysterious monsters. These creatures are deadly, but they can only be seen when intoxicated, and they can only be fought off with cocktails that grant superpowers. What’s a girl to do but join the fight? Luigi could get a little escapism, a little distraction…or a little inspiration to bring a flask of liquid courage on his next adventure!

You Are A Badass by Jen Sincero

We might love to poke fun at Luigi for being a scaredy-cat, but really, who among us would actually be brave enough to fight through not one, but three haunted houses to save their friends? Time for Luigi to step up and take pride in quite how brave he is, with a little help from You Are A Badass: How To Stop Doubting Your Greatness And Start Living An Awesome Life. A hugely popular self help book, this isn’t about becoming better. It’s about stepping up and recognizing how awesome you are right now. And if that fits anyone, it’s Luigi!
