About the Author

Ben H. Winters

Ben H. Winters is the New York Times best-selling, Edgar Award–winning, and Philip K. Dick Award–winning author of The Quiet Boy, Golden State, Underground Airlines, the Last Policeman trilogy, and the mash-up novel Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters. Ben has also worked extensively in television; he was a writer on the FX cult hit Legion as well as Manhunt on Apple TV+, and he is the creator of the CBS drama Tracker. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife, three kids, and one large dog.

Jason Heller

Jason Heller is a Denver-based writer and editor best known as a regular contributor to The A.V. Club, the pop-culture-obsessed offshoot of The Onion. He’s also a coauthor (along with, among others, Chuck Klosterman and “Weird Al” Yankovic) of Inventory, an A.V. Club book published by Scribner. In addition, he’s penned numerous blogs and articles for Tor.com, Alternative Press, Weird Tales, Fantasy Magazine, Clarkesworld, most papers in the Village Voice chain, and sundry others.

Proving there’s no end to his geekiness, he also writes science fiction, fantasy, and horror, the likes of which have been featured in over a dozen publications including Sybil's Garage, Apex Magazine, Polluto, Farrago's Wainscot, Brain Harvest, and the Descended from Darkness anthology. His next undertaking is the steampunk pirate novel, Ocean of Bone. When his head's not wedged in a laptop, he plays guitar in the punk bands The Fire Drills and 25 Rifles. Loud, his popular monthly column on punk, hardcore, noise, and metal, appears monthly on avclub.com.

Kevin David Anderson

KEVIN DAVID ANDERSON is a former marketing and public relations professional turned fiction writer and a lifelong Star Trek devotee. His short stories have appeared in the pages of Dark Animus, Dark Wisdom, Darkness Rising, and a bunch of other publications with the word “dark” in the title. He lives in California. Night of the Living Trekkies is his first novel.

Ransom Riggs

RANSOM RIGGS is the #1 New York Times best-selling author of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. He is also the author of Talking Pictures (Harper Collins, 2012) and The Sherlock Holmes Handbook (Quirk, 2008). He is a graduate of the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts and lives in Los Angeles.

Seth Grahame-Smith

Seth Grahame-Smith is a film and television writer/producer, semi-frequent blogger, and New York Times bestselling author.  He grew up in the wilds of Connecticut, eschewing the outdoors in favor of Stephen King novels and a worn-out VHS copy of Aliens.  After college, he moved to California, where he wrote everything from narration scripts for History Channel documentaries to lyrics for Flava Flav.  No, really.  He also wrote several non-fiction humor books, including How to Survive a Horror Movie and the much-funnier-than-it-sounds Big Book of Porn.  In 2007, he produced the innovative CBS internet series Clark and Michael, starring Michael Cera (Superbad, Juno).

In 2009, his Jane Austen-meets-the-undead mash-up Pride and Prejudice and Zombies debuted at #3 on the New York Times bestseller list.  Seth is also the Co-Creator/Executive Producer of the MTV comedy series, The Hard Times of RJ Berger.  He received a B.S. in Film from Emerson College.

He lives in Los Angeles with his wife and son.
