Book Recommendations for the Cast of CHEER

It’s National Girls and Women in Sports Day and if you’re anything like us, you’re only thinking of one female dominated sport: cheer. Or, more specifically, CHEER on Netflix. We’ve been biting our nails in anticipation of Daytona – even though we could have easily Googled the results, even though we know Navarro Cheer is the best in the land. And now that we’ve exhausted this incredibly addictive series, all we want to do is cheer on the women of CHEER. Which is how we came up with the not nerdy at all, totally normal idea of sending them some book recommendations.

Five Quirk Books for Ted Danson’s Best Roles

Ted Danson is back in the small-screen spotlight, as his hit series The Good Place heads toward the end of its fourth and final season. Danson has been acting since the ‘70s, although his breakout role came in the ‘80s as the bartender in Cheers. He’s won awards, covered sitcoms, crime shows, and movies in every genre, and it’s almost impossible to pick his absolute best roles…but we’ve given it a shot anyway. For five of his best-known characters, we’ve got the perfect Quirk recommendations (and they might be just as good for fans, too).

CATS Parodies and References in Pop Culture

CATS opened this week in cinemas worldwide and, honestly, we have no idea what to expect from this movie musical. (We haven't seen it yet.) Its Broadway counterpart broke box office records – but with stage makeup and a 1980s aesthetic instead of CGI faces and a strange new plot. Rather than speculate about just how weird this movie might be, we’re looking back at our favorite CATS references and parodies in pop culture. There are so many!

Our favorite show of the decade, The Good Place, is quickly coming to an end. (We’re not crying. You’re crying.) And we're spending a fair amount of time daydreaming about our favorite characters. Which is how we came up with this list of book recommendations for our favorite ball of nerves: Chidi Anagonye.

Literary Fantasy Creatures That Are Basically Pokemon

It’s no wonder that Pokemon is one of the biggest franchises in the gaming world (and the cartoon world, and the toy world): everyone wishes they could have an awesome fantasy pet that is easily transportable, extraordinarily useful, and comes with a few extra powers. What child wouldn’t want that? (For that matter, what adult would turn it down?)

However, Pokemon are far from the only creatures in the world that would fulfill these requirements…at least to some degree. The world of literature is packed with creatures that would make for perfect real life pets, if only they existed.

Book Recommendations for Jason Mendoza from The Good Place

The Good Place is coming to a close and to say we’re going to miss these characters would be an understatement. Before we bid farewell to Team Cockroach – while not so secretly hoping that Michael Schur has another great idea for a show up his sleeve – we’re sending each of our four favorite humans off with a list of book recommendations. It’s our hope that these books will serve them well in The Good Place. Because, ultimately, we’re hoping that they make it there. We’ll start things off with Jason Mendoza: a well-meaning idiot with cheekbones for days.
