What's better than a cinnamon roll? While we could go on and on about how much we love this sticky sweet dessert, we’d much rather talk about the other cinnamon rolls in our lives – the ones that are too good for this world, too pure. Yes, we’re talking about fictional characters. The very sweetest ones.

Sage in Geekerella by Ashley Poston

We absolutely love that Ashley Poston gave us the gift of Sage Graven. She’s such a delight! Think about it: there wouldn’t be a Magic Pumpkin without Sage. And while technically, the food truck belongs to her mother Wynona, it’s Sage who keeps the truck running day in and day out. And like the loyal best friend that she is, Sage comes to the rescue with both the transportation and the perfect comic con outfit to save the day for Elle. She’s a cinnamon roll and a fairy godmother all rolled into one!

Max in Party of Two by Jasmine Guillory

When we first meet Max in Jasmine Guillory’s Party of Two, he’s wearing a thin disguise and waxing poetic about dessert. So, of course, it was such a delight to learn that he’s just as sweet as the cakes and pies that he craves. He takes it slow – much to Olivia’s frustration – because he doesn’t want to bombard her with the very public life of dating a politician. And every decision he makes is done with that same level of care, always thinking of the other person over himself. Until he makes a big mistake. But what’s a romance novel without an obstacle?

Zafir in Take a Hint, Dani Brown by Talia Hibbert

It’s such a treat to talk about two romance cinnamon rolls back to back because they’re both (1) so incredibly delightful and (2) so different from each other. Zafir is an ex-pro rugby player but you wouldn’t know it from talking to him because he’s so so humble. Instead, he’ll share his love of romance novels and how the genre has taught him more about masculinity and decency than any team sport ever has. He’s in security at the university, but he also runs a non-profit that helps young men channel their feelings through sports. And he’s just so nice! Need we say more?

Honey in The Golden State by Lydia Kiesling

Maybe it’s unfair to put a toddler on our list of kind, beautiful characters – too pure for this world, really. But this is the best fictional toddler we’ve ever read about: Honey from The Golden State by Lydia Kiesling. And she’s just as sweet as her name suggests. Honey is on an epic road trip with her mother, journeying from Berkeley to the most northern part of California, a long way for a babbling baby to go. And all the while, she has no idea where she is, where she’s going, and what familiarity means in her oh so young life.
