Asian Spicy Ribs With White Rice: Welcome the Year of the Dragon
Have you welcomed the Year of the Dragon yet? Well, these Asian-inspired spicy ribs are as powerful and mighty as a dragon. Superior flavors of sweet hoisin sauce blended with fierce red pepper flakes make this an ideal meal to celebrate the Year of the Dragon.
Simply bake the covered ribs until the succulent meat nearly falls off. Then uncover and roast quickly with the sweet-spiced glaze. Serve hot with steamed white rice, and you’ll rule! Just like a dragon!
For the Ribs:
1 pound beef ribs
¼ cup rice wine
1 teaspoon ginger powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
steamed white rice, for serving
For the Glaze:
¼ cup hoisin sauce
¼ cup honey
2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
2 drops sesame oil
Mix together the hoisin sauce, honey, red pepper flakes and sesame oil. Pour this glaze over the baked ribs at the last stage of roasting.
1. Marinate the beef ribs with the rice wine, ginger and garlic powders, salt and pepper. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate 4 hours or overnight.
2. Preheat the oven at 375 F degrees. Place the ribs in a roasting pan. Cover with foil.
3. Bake the ribs for 55 minutes or till meat is tender .
4. Remove foil cover. Add the glaze towards the last 5 minutes of cooking. Continue roasting for 8 to 10 minutes till ribs have a dark brown color.
NOTES: The ingredients hoisin sauce, rice wine, sesame oil and rice can be purchased at Asian groceries or major supermarkets.
