  • What do you get when you cross magic, teenagers, and comics? The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Netflix’s ode to Archie comics' favorite witch. Now that we’ve seen the first season, we can’t help but conjure a list of books for the bewitching characters of Greendale.

  • It’s German chemist Robert Wilhelm Eberhard von Bunsen’s 207th birthday on March 31—aka National Bunsen Burner Day. To commemorate the birth of the man who invented that instrumental piece of laboratory equipment, we’re highlighting some of our favorite scientists from Sam Maggs’ Wonder Women – women who broke down barriers, made significant contributions to the field, and, in a couple of cases, didn’t even get credited for their work. Today is for them.

  • It’s not hard to fall in love with your local independent bookstore. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with an alluring brick floor or a bookstore cat or every book you’ve ever loved on display at the front of the store. It’s a book lover’s dream. And while we’re guilty of the infinite browse because the prices are higher than we thought they’d be (curse you, Amazon!), today we’re embracing that full price lifestyle – with the promise to honor and support our indies for all time. Small businesses keep our communities vibrant, y’all. Let’s treat them right.

  • We’re big fans of women throughout history here at Quirk Books — so much so that we’ve published several books about them! In honor of International Women’s Day, we’re looking back on our favorite girl squads throughout history with a fun, feminist quiz. (Bonus points if you complete the quiz with your BFF.) Grab your pencils and brush up on your history because this quiz is one for the ages. Literally.

Because these women are timeless. Okay, you get it. You totally get it.

  • Captain Marvel is hitting theaters nationwide this week and we couldn’t be more excited. Carol Danvers, played by Brie Larson in the sure to be blockbuster film, has a storied history in the Marvel universe. She came onto the scene in 1968 as the first to hold the Ms. Marvel name. (Kamala Khan currently holds the title, long may she reign.) In 2012, she assumed the mantle of Captain Marvel -- a role originally held by Mar-Vell. And we’ve been cheering her on ever since.

  • Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and, let’s face it, there’s a lot of pressure to get the perfect gift. You’re already nervous enough that your crush doesn’t like you back -- or that your friends won’t be available for a proper Galentine’s Day bash. You don’t need to added pressure of consumerism. Here’s our advice: skip the chocolates and opt instead for a bookish display of your affections. We came up with a few ideas to get those creative juices going.
