Happy 35th birthday to Anna Kendrick – a voracious reader, dedicated tweeter, and published author. Are we missing something? We’re kidding, of course. Because who could forget that she’s a delightful actor and wonderful person to boot. It’s hard not to love her! With production schedules on hold and the future of film and television uncertain, we thought we’d have a little fun and pitch Anna on a few yet-to-be-announced film adaptations that we know she’d be wonderful in. Let’s dive in!

Mia in Siri, Who Am I?

Anna Kendrick’s bread and butter is playing young female protagonists who pack a punch, with some physical humor and quirkiness sprinkled in. But what if the quirkiness was a mask for her entire personality because she took a decidedly not funny fall, resulting in amnesia? That’s the premise of Siri, Who Am I? by Sam Tschida. When Mia wakes up in a Long Beach hospital, she has a torn party dress, a cracked iPhone, and not much else. We’d love to watch Anna Kendrick work out exactly who she is using good old-fashioned sleuthing – and Instagram, of course.

Kris in We Sold Our Souls

We’d love to see Anna Kendrick tackle a horror role – and no, Twilight doesn’t count. It would be amazing to see her in We Sold Our Souls by Grady Hendrix, melding together her musical talent with her captivating acting style. When Kris, a heavy metal guitarist, discovers that her bandmate Terry sold her soul for his own success, she embarks on an epic road trip to confront him and get her life back. Don’t you want to see Anna Kendrick out for revenge?

Thea in The Bromance Book Club

Despite being an actual adult, Anna Kendrick has been cast in her fair share of college-aged roles. And while we love a YA romcom as much as the next person, what we’d really love to see is a romance novel come to life. In The Bromance Book Club by Lyssa Kay Adams, Anna would play Thea, the recently separated wife of a clueless baseball player. Gavin, desperate to make things right with her, joins a book club of romance readers – with the goal of getting in touch with his emotions and saving his marriage. Thea is an artist, a mother of twins, and an incredible sister. She’s the best part of the book, frankly, and we’d love to see Anna Kendrick embody her.

Daphne in The Golden State

If Lydia Kiesling’s incredible debut novel The Golden State was ever adapted for film, we’d love for Anna Kendrick to play the protagonist Daphne. We’re hungry for Anna to dig into deliciously complex roles, roles that dig into the intimacies of motherhood and the messy dynamics of road trip stories – especially when the driver’s copilot is also their baby. The Golden State would be a beautifully shot film, with the landscape of northern California swirling around each and every frame. And if the landscape upstages Anna Kendrick, we know she’ll be more than okay with it.
