Dream Bookish LEGO Sets We Wish We Could Have

Seeing the new Doctor Who LEGO sets out in the world has set our minds afire with possbility. If only we could also see these dream LEGO sets in the market as well!

Hogwarts Library—from Harry Potter

We might as well get this obvious pick out of the way. Harry Potter already has a lovely history with LEGO bricks: we've got the LEGO Harry Potter video games, and there are sets that already exist of Hogwarts Castle, Diagon Alley, the Quidditch pitch, and even The Burrow. But what better image to place on a shelf among your books than a LEGO brick model of the Hogwarts library, which is itself modeled after the gorgeous Trinity College Library in Dublin? Bonus points if you're also a Star Wars fan, as the Jedi library was also modeled after the same.

The Hab—from The Martian by Andy Weir

With The Martian-mania still strong, A LEGO set based on the Hab would be simple enough—our main character spends a lot of his time at a habitat on Mars. Add a little vehicle and some space accessories for space walks, and you can get your little Mark Watney figure outside every now and again, too, exploring the vast landscape of your living room. Just humor me here a second, though – wouldn't a LEGO brick potato farm be hilarious?

Moya's Command Center—from Farscape

We might be slightly cheating here as Farscape began as a TV series, but there are enough books and comics out now that we feel justified in bringing her up. Her being Moya —the living ship (leviathan) inhabited by our main crew. Crichton, Aeryn, D'Argo, Chiana, Zhaan, and Rygel would all have to be there, of course. Pilot would probably be a decal on a screen to the side, but that's still six mini-figures without counting characters who appear later in the series, or come and go like Stark and Jool. Want to get really crazy? Include a little Scorpius and stage some epic battles. Or add Crais and Moya's offspring called Talyn, who actually has a super cool interior design. So many possibilities!

Mademoiselle Geraldine's Finishing Academy for Young Ladies of Quality—from the Finishing School series by Gail Carriger

How badass would a steampunk dirigible look in your living room? Next to your bookshelf? There are so many images to mine from this series for a LEGO set. The mini-figures would look pretty rad, too, with huge dresses and lovely hats, and they'd have to take up more space than standard. Sophronia with her bolt accessory, her best friend Dimity with a fan or other dainty object, her sootie pal Soap, and the other ladies too.

Magic Kingdom (After Dark)—from the Kingdom Keepers series by Ridley Pearson

If you haven't read the Kingdom Keepers series, the jist of it is that the Park comes alive after dark, when all of the guests have gone. Those dolls in It's A Small World? The pirate animatronics of Pirates of the Caribbean? Think about those chasing you around Main Street at the behest of some evil that wants to take over the Park, and unleash all the villains into the real world. Now think of a super cool LEGO set of the Magic Kingdom (a piece of it, anyway) featuring the series' main characters fighting an epic battle with the pirates. This would be a cool opportunity for a great Disney-related diorama that isn't simply a castle.
