2016’s Grammy-Nominated Songs We Dedicated to Book Characters

Posted by Jessica Tuckerman

The Grammys are coming to a TV set near you on February 15th, 2016 and we thought it would be fun to recommend each nominated song to a character, or pair of characters, from some of our favorite books (past and present).

"Uptown Funk" – Tiberias Calore VII (from Red Queen)

He's too hot! He's on fire! Well, what do you expect from someone who controls and manipulates it? Tiberias Calore, aka Cal, from Victoria Averyard's Red Queen would totally rock out to Uptown Funk by Bruno Mars on his way in and out of his castle.

"Thinking Out Loud" – America Singer and Prince Maxson (from The Selection series)

America Singer might have taken her sweet time figuring out she loved Prince Maxson (literally three books) but once she figured it out, because we all figured it out long before she did, she knew she'd love him until they were seventy. And probably long after that. We think America and Maxson from Kiera Cass's The Selection series would probably share their first dance to Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran.

"Blank Space" – Bertha Antoinetta Mason (from Jane Eyre)

If ever there were a more appropriate song for anyone's ex—it's Taylor Swift's Blank Space. Remember kids: it's better to have skeletons in the closet than a Bertha in the attic. Charlotte Brönte certainly gave us someone willing to let it all go down in flames (literally) with Bertha from Jane Eyre.

"Can't Feel My Face" – Lavender Brown & Ron Weasley (from Harry Potter series)

Remember when they were dating? They snogged in every corner at Hogwarts! We can't say we're not glad to see them split. The Weeknd's Can't Feel My Face is perfect for this poorly matched couple from J.K. Rowling's The Harry Potter Series.

"See You Again" – Primrose Everdeen (from Hunger Games series)

Primrose Everdeen, and many of our other darlings. It was hard thinking she'd gone down with District 12 and even harder to watch her turn around at the gates in the Capitol. Wiz Kalifa and Charlie Puth's duet certainly makes us think of more than just our little duck from The Hunger Games.

"Girl Crush" – Clarke Griffin (from The 100 trilogy)

Who wouldn't develop a little girl crush on all those warrior women of the Grounders? Little Big Town's Girl Crush is perfect for this character from Kass Morgan's The 100 Trilogy.
