October is the month we’re basically made up of sugar, obsessed with watching as many horror movies as possible, and reading ALL the dark books. Throw in Halloween crafts plus putting together our costumes—did we mention all the Halloween candy we eat?!—and you can see why it’s our favorite month.
In the spirit of continuing the fun we decided to play a game: #HalloweenABook. Make sure to join us on Twitter!

The annual celebration of the freedom to read is upon us again and we’re ready for Banned Books Week. We believe families and individuals have the right to decide for themselves what to read and what to skip, but should not decide for others by having books removed or banned. Since the first Banned Books Week in 1982, the American Library Association has recorded that more than 11,000 books have been challenged. So to celebrate Banned Books Week, we've come up with some reimagined book titles for you, inspired by the reasons they were challenged. Enjoy!

ABC’s Black-ish is not only funny and perfectly cast with very talented actors—it also manages smart social commentary. Between the great chemistry amongst the actors, the awesome Halloween episodes, Bow and Dre always managing to out-ridiculous each other, and Diane’s amazing comedic timing, we are so glad our wait is finally over. Season 3 premiered yesterday on the heels of its Emmy nominations, and with plenty of material from the Presidential election, so we’re ready for this season! We’re so ready that in our excitement we created a Black-ish Book Club.
Remember that scene in Pretty Woman where Vivian says “We’ll cop a squat under a tree somewhere” to Edward? Unlike Edward, who wasn’t sure what that meant, we totally get it. We’ve got a stack of books we’re dying to read and we’ve found some amazing, totally awesome places we want to cop a squat and read. We've got your back, Vivian.
Summer's not over yet, but we're still crying in preparation for the end. The one upside is all the back-to-school goodies we get to buy. We’re going full on wear-our-love-on-our-backs when it comes to bookbags.
We aren't alone. Our fictional counterparts have their school gear picked out and ready to go.
The first Sunday in August is Sisters’ Day, which like anything involving family can go many ways. We're celebrating with literature, because, of course. Read up on our favorite literary sisters and their imagined letters, notes, and messages—from dip pens to drunk emailing!
