Can you believe this weekend is the 25th anniversary of Friends? We can't, but we're here to celebrate by recommending Quirk reads to each of the characters.
Monica: Field Guide to Stains
Monica loves to entertain and she LOVES keeping a clean house. Sadly, the same can’t be said about her friends, who are routinely putting things back in the wrong place. Over the years, Monica becomes more and more efficient about cleaning, so it makes sense that she’d want to keep a copy of Field Guide to Stains handy for the next time Joey drops a sandwich on her pristine couch.
Joey: The Encylopedia of Sandwiches
Speaking of Joey, can someone please get this man another sandwich, for crying out loud?! Perhaps one from Encyclopedia of Sandwiches will do? As a connoisseur of all things food, Joey will appreciate this comprehensive guide to sandwich-making.
Chandler: Jokes Every Man Should Know
We all know what joke we're about to make about Friends’ King of Corny Jokes...but could Chandler BE any funnier? Maybe if he had a copy of Jokes Every Man Should Know in his pocket! After all, you never know when you’re going to need to break the tension in a room.
Ross: The Groom's Instruction Manual
You know what they say about Ross. Always a groom, never a groomsman. (Or something like that.) Despite all of Ross’s “experience” on the alter, he still somehow manages to bungle it every time. That’s why we’re recommending The Groom’s Instruction Manual – it may not help him remember his bride’s name (Rachel—we mean, Emily!) but it can’t hurt.
Rachel: My Lady's Choosing
To be or not to be...on a break? That is the question. Rachel has had her fair share of romantic woes, from her runaway bride antics in the Pilot to her will-they-or-won’t-they relationship with Ross to her final decision: will she get off the plane? Rachel’s all about making choices, which is why we’re recommending My Lady’s Choosing, where almost every choice leads to a happily ever after.
Phoebe: Basic Witches
Phoebe is the most spiritual of the bunch. From her ability to read people’s auras to her tea leaf readings, we bet Pheebs would LOVE a copy of Basic Witches. In fact, we could see her picking it up for a quick read in between her "acoustic folksy stuff" sets at Central Perk. Hey, wait, do you think Smelly Cat is her familiar?
Gunther: The Geek's Guide to Dating
The unofficial 7th friend, Gunther was a staple on Friends from the very beginning, but despite his best efforts, he never quite made it into the inner circle and his love for Rachel was left unrequited. But it doesn’t have to be all bad news for dear Gunther. He can just grab a copy of The Geek’s Guide to Dating, and before you know it, he’ll be slingin’ espressos with the best of ‘em.
