  • 'Tis the season to give the gift of a good book! We at Quirk have put together a beautiful, free downloadable kit that covers all your book gifting needs—from bookish wrapping paper to bookmarks! Season's Readings!

  • When November and #NaNoWriMo begins, there is no shortage of great ideas, inspiration, and motivation. You sit down at the computer convinced that by the time December rolls around, you’ll have easily surpassed 50,000 words.

  • October is the month of pumpkin flavored everything, chocolate bars in the perfect bite size, reading horror books, watching scary movies, and most importantly, thinking hard about our Halloween costumes!

This may come as a shock, but we have an affinity for bookish Halloween costumes—you just can’t go wrong! So here are some of our all time favorite Halloween costumes inspired by literature that we’d give ALL the candy to. Well, all the candy we haven’t already eaten.

  • Every year during Banned Books Week, we honor books that have been banned or challenged throughout history. We do so because stories that attract censorship are often speaking truths some are fearful of hearing. These are books that break down established norms, challenge authority, provoke critical thinking, and yes, make people uncomfortable in doing so. And when they are banned, we as a society are lesser for it.

So this week, let's turn these so-called "dangers" into something to celebrate. Stick these printable bookmarks in your favorite banned book, and let the world know that the freedom to read it is an intellectual right and privilege.

  • Contest is Closed!

Well Quirk fans, the holidays are here. And as we get ready to close up shop for the Winter, I'm going to run one giveaway a day up until we leave on break this Friday. So... welcome to Five Days of Quirkmas.

First up? A whole bunch of Smarts Co. card games.

Now, Quirk didn't make these cute games. We distributed them a few years ago, and we still have some around the office. Nicely packaged and cleverly designed, these quiz games dish out trivia on an array of subjects, and I've got copies of Sex Smarts, Wine Smarts, Baby Smarts, Paris Smarts, Chocolate Smarts and Coffee Smarts up for grabs. Each comes with 60 to 100 question and answer cards, a score pad, and a handy little guide on whatever topic the game covers.

How can you enter to win one? Just leave a comment (feel free to mention which game you'd prefer) or tweet this post while mentioning @quirkbooks. I'll select ten of you at random at the end of the week. Be sure to leave your email address in the comments, or I won't be able to contact you.

Check back tomorrow for another giveaway! Happy Holidays!
