B-E-YAY: Bedbugs, Celebrities, Bloggers & More

Our Booth, Before the Expo Started

Last week (wow, has it been a week already?!) Quirk hopped a train to New York City for Book Expo America. We gave away a ton of Bedbugs ARCs, a number of different posters (the Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children one was a big hit), some super cute totebags designed by Art Director extraordinaire Doogie Horner, and at the end of the convention, just about every book we brought with us. Thanks for that, eager readers. We didn't want to mail all of that home.

This year, our booth was right next door to Random House's, and we all found ourselves distracted by the number of celebrities coming in and out of their space. Mindy Kaling (Kelly Kapoor from The Office) and Tyra Banks were there, promoting their upcoming titles and signing autographs.

Not to be outdone, we brought our own celebrity with us; Ben Winters, New York Times bestselling author of Sense & Sensibility & Sea Monsters. He signed copies of Bedbugs, and he went through nearly one hundred copies in half an hour. He even signed a copy that was utterly destroyed in shipping, which I'll be giving away on the site shortly.

All in all, BEA '11 was a massive success for us. Introduced a ton of people to our books, met celebrities we adore (I met Whitney from Popcandy, Mari met Duff from Guns & Roses, McG photobombed Tyra Banks), and talked to a lot of Quirk fans. Check out a slideshow of photos from the convention, below. Or just hit up our Flickr page. Either or. Already excited for next year!
